Fundraising Opportunities at GJ Scores

How many times has your organization launched a fundraising effort and been disappointed by the results or overwhelmed by the details?

GJ Scores is pleased to offer several attractive alternatives for groups looking to raise money. We make it easy to raise funds & enjoyable for the participants. We have the tools & experience necessary to run successful bowling fundraisers for companies, schools, churches, clubs and other organizations. The following are some of the concepts that can be customized to your specific needs.

Raising Money Overnight

Sound far-fetched? It’s not! You can raise money overnight with an all-night bowling party. Lock-Ins are a safe, fun alternative for class fundraisers, scouting trips, after-prom and graduation parties.

We can accommodate between 25 and 200 participants, so your entire group can have fun. The package includes unlimited bowling from approximately Midnight to 7 AM, use of house balls &shoes, billiards, movies, pizza & soda, continental breakfast, music & give-a-ways. All for only $25 per person! (One chaperone per ten attendees is required.)

Sounds great, but how do you make money? You set the price you charge for your guests. If you charge $35 per person, your organization makes $10 for each bowler. You have all the fun and raise money for your needs. Please call for availability.

Putting the FUN back in Fundraiser

Hosting a Bowling Party Fundraiser is one of the simplest ways to raise money for your cause. These parties are easy to organize, simple to run and a lot of fun for everyone involved. This is how it works…

  1. We help you pick a date & time for your event, which will include 2 hours of bowling & shoe rental. (This will be scheduled during off-peak times. No Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.)
  2. We will reserve a block of 12 lanes for the event on the specified date & time.
  3. You invite members of your group & the community to come out for your bowling party.
  4. Each guest will be charged $10 to cover their bowling & shoe rental (socks are not included). 50% will go to cover the cost of bowling & 50% will go to your organization.

Example: If 50 people turn out for your event, you raise $250. If 100 people turn out for your event, you raise $500.
This type of event works best when you are targeting individuals & families in the community.
Advance reservations are required. Availability is limited & restrictions may apply.

Corporate Bowling Fundraisers

Hosting a Corporate Bowling Fundraiser is another effective way to raise money for your cause. These parties are a little more complex to organize but are still easy to run and a lot of fun for everyone involved. This is how it works…

  1. We help you pick a date & time for your event. Weekends are available, although they will be charged at a higher rate.
  2. We will reserve a minimum of 6 lanes & a maximum of 12 lanes for your event.
  3. You will receive the corporate lane rental rate which includes 2 hours of bowling & shoe rental.
  4. You set a price per lane & “sell” lanes to different corporate groups.
  5. You collect money from the participants. You pay only for the lanes you use & keep the difference.

Example: Your event is scheduled for a Monday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM. You set a price of $150 per lane for 2 hours of bowling & shoe rental. For each lane you fill, you will pay the center $50 & keep $100 for your cause. If you sell 12 lanes, you raise $1,200.

To raise additional funds…

  1. Run a raffle or 50/50 during your event. (Legislation prohibits those under 18 from participating in either of these. Make sure to check City of Grand Junction regulations.)
  2. Customize your package with food from Scores Bistro

Bowl-A-Thons

GJ Scores has a special program designed to help you raise money for your organization through a Bowl-A-Thon. The format is similar to a walk-a-thon in that participants get pledges from sponsors in the community. This program requires more legwork both before & after the event, but there are a lot of advantages…

  1. Bowl-A-Thons yield a high return per participant (Example: If 30 participants each contact 10 sponsors to pledge $5, you raise $1,500. The cost of bowling is only $300—6 lanes, 5 per lane, for 2 hours of bowling. $1,200 goes to your cause.)
  2. Unlike candy or cookie sales, there are no complications with inventory and distribution.
  3. There is no minimum number of participants. Utilize as few as 2 lanes or the entire center.
  4. You will pay only for the lanes you use (and you get a discount off our regular open play pricing).
  5. We have bumpers, lightweight bowling balls & ramps available, so no one is left out regardless of age & ability.

How it works…

  1. We help you schedule the best day/time to host your event.
  2. You recruit members of your organization to participate
  3. We supply you with detailed instructions for running the event, including pledge sheets for all bowlers.
  4. Your participants contact their family, friends & neighbors for sponsorship.
  5. Each sponsor pledges either a set amount ($5, $10, $20…) or a certain amount per pin (1¢, 2¢, 5¢) they knock down in the 2 hours of bowling.

Other Fundraising Opportunities

Lock-Ins, Fundraising Bowling Parties, Corporate Bowling Fundraisers & Bowl-A-Thons are not your only bowling fundraiser options. Some of the fundraisers we have customized in the past include…

  1. A coupon book consisting of game, shoe rental & food discount coupons we compiled for a class fundraiser.
  2. An after-school bowling program where a percentage of each child’s weekly fee went back to the school.
  3. A tournament where a percentage of the entry fee was donated to the cause.
  4. An employee league where a percentage of each weeks fees went to the company’s charity.

We will be happy to work with you to develop a package to meet your unique fundraising needs.
